My journey as a freelance writer and editor began with an obsession for storytelling when I was a young student. After one misguided semester as an animal science major at the University of Delaware, I quickly pivoted to journalism, and after just one class with Dr. Nickerson and Dr. Stone, I knew I’d found my home. My early assignments focused on police reports and obituaries, but undeterred, my love of language, writing, and storytelling remained.
Shortly after graduating, I took a teaching assistant position at KidsPeace—and got hooked on teaching, which led to an M.Ed. from Lehigh University. After graduating, I moved to Ft. Riley, KS, and between teaching soldiers during the week and training horses on the weekend, I earned an M.A. in Creative Writing at Kansas State.
After several years, I returned to Pennsylvania to teach English and Latin at Pennridge High School and prove Latin isn’t dead! Gradually, I felt pulled in a different direction, and in 2013, I resigned from my high school position, pivoting to design and teach writing courses at Cedar Crest College. I also focused more on freelance writing and editing, leveraging my background and interest in all topics to provide diverse clients with high-quality content. And now, more than a decade later, I’m happily writing and editing for clients worldwide. Need help with marketing, social media, website, or thought leadership content? Contact me to discuss your needs.
